What happens when I have filled the form in?

The ET1 has to be returned to the Central Office of the Employment Tribunals (the address is given on the form, and a helpful guidance booklet will be enclosed with the form) or if you are completing the form on-line you can submit the form electronically. Your form and an ET2, which is a summons, are sent to the employer, who is known as the 'respondent'.

Bear in mind that the employer will see everything you have written on your form, as will the tribunal panel, so be clear, be accurate and be polite!

The employer then has to return an ET3 form, known as a 'notice of appearance', in which he or she will set out their defence.
