If you think you fit the job specification and are not getting a fair chance at an interview, you should ask for feedback on your application. While employers are not obliged to provide feedback, some may be helpful and could point to areas where you need to improve. In today’s climate, competition for jobs is fierce and even the smallest mistake can count against you.
If you still feel that you have not been given a legitimate reason for your application being rejected you can pursue the matter further.
Sadly it's true that some employers may be put off by your disability or can’t be bothered to make reasonable adjustments for you. It is unlawful for an employer, or future employer, to reject an applicant on the grounds of disability, or refuse to make reasonable adjustments.
If you feel you have been discriminated against you should ask an employer to reconsider your application. If they refuse you can lodge a complaint against them.
Although this is unlikely to help your job prospects it may make them think twice about discriminating in the future. And don’t worry, the vast majority of employers want to employ the best candidates and do not reject people because of their disability.
