It is unlawful to refuse you employment on the grounds of your religion or belief, either directly, or indirectly or by putting in place requirements that would be more difficult for you to comply with than somebody with a different religion or belief.
The only exception to this protection is where there is some reason connected with the job itself or the requirements of the job that requires a person of a particular religion or belief.
This is known as a Genuine Occupational Qualification.
