How much should I be paid?

Your contract of employment will contain an express term specifying your rate of pay and other pay elements, which are a matter of agreement between you and your employer.

The written statement of employment particulars, which employees must be given within 8 weeks of starting work, must tell you your rate of pay, and when you will be paid (i.e. weekly, monthly, etc.).

The rate of pay may result from a collective agreement between the employer and one or more unions. In any event, of course, the rate must not be below the National Minimum Wage and should not be at odds with the equal pay provisions of the Equality Act 2010.
