Employees who are negotiating representatives or Information and Consultation Representatives are entitled to reasonable paid time off to perform their functions.
They are also protected against unfair dismissal or less favourable treatment by an employer when acting as representatives, standing as candidates for election or otherwise exercising their rights under the Regulations.
However, the Regulations make it clear that an employee who makes an unauthorised disclosure of confidential information from the employer will lose the right to protection against unfair dismissal and less favourable treatment.
