If you have one year's service with your employer you have the right to request a written statement of the reasons for your dismissal. Your employer has 14 days to reply to the request unless it is not reasonably practicable to do so.
If you are dismissed during pregnancy or maternity leave you have an automatic entitlement to a written statement without having to request it regardless of your length of service.
