Minister of State for Higher Education and Intellectual Property David Lammy has prepared this short video for us as an introduction on the importance of IT security skills for industry. Click the panel above to play it.

Government, industry, campaigners and unions all agree on the value of building the UK workforce's IT security skills. Time invested in IT security training will pay off in reduced risks to your IT infrastructure from viruses and hackers, reduced risk to your data by fraud, and reduced risks to good working relationships, through personnel issues that could have been avoided.

As part of your programme of IT security training, why not let your staff time to complete this online toolkit at work? It should take most people between 45 minutes and an hour to finish. If they register first, they'll get a certificate to show they've completed all the four sections of advice, and recommendations for further reading relevant to their working situation.

There's obviously only so much anyone can learn in an hour, and you'll need to approach your IT security needs in a more systematic way, but we hope it will be avaluable resource for many as a starting point.
