More used to dealing with red tape, Civil Service staff at National Insurance offices in Tyneside are having to contend with tape of a different colour. As part of an “efficiency” drive to improve their working environment, consultants have told civil servants to mark out spots on their desks for their phone, pens and keyboards with black tape. The pilot project also forbids staff from keeping food on their desks unless it is classed as “active”- meaning that it is about to be eaten. Read more
