Where can I find more detailed information on pensions?
On the web there are a number of useful pensions resources where you can read more or download useful booklets.
These include:
- The Pension Service, which is part of the Department of Work and Pensions. It does a good job of explaining complicated pensions issues in easy to understand English.
- The Financial Services Authority was set up by Parliament to regulate financial services and educate and protect consumers. It has a big website covering the whole range of finance issues. We would suggest here as the best way in to its pensions info. Select Pensions Q&As or click this link for their downloadable pensions publications
- The Pensions Advisory Service, OPAS, is an independent, non-profit organisation. Its website has lots of useful detailed material, but its level of detail can be a bit off putting if you are looking for general information.
- Most written information about pensions is full of jargon. You can use the workSMART jargon buster for some terms, but if you cannot find them here then try the Plain English Campaign's excellent A-Z of Pensions Terms. Indeed we are grateful to the Campaign for letting us use some of their definitions in our jargon buster, though many are our own, so don't blame the Campaign if something isn't clear.
