Happy Mondays?

Earlier this year, 20,000 of you voted in our Bank Holiday Idol search for a new bank holiday. The one you chose was the first Monday of autumn half-term.

With 16 weeks between the next Bank Holiday and the last one, this would be a great time to have a new holiday, breaking the gap that makes our damp, dark Monday mornings seem such a slog at times.

The government has long term plans to fix the loophole which means some people don't get any bank holidays. But we're still lagging behind the Euro average of eleven public holidays, with only eight in the UK. Giving us another day would be a poplular change - our poll found that nearly 99% of people wanted a new bank holiday.
