Which occupations are most at risk?

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) suggests that workers in certain industries, such as hairdressing, catering, printing, health services, chemicals, engineering and construction are most at risk. Dermatitis is common in a wide range of occupations, including:

  • Hairdressers.
  • Healthcare workers, including nurses, cleaners, lab technicians, ambulance workers and other occupations.
  • Catering and kitchen staff.
  • Bar staff.
  • Cleaners.
  • Bakers and confectioners.
  • Meat, poultry and fish handlers.
  • Fruit and vegetable handlers.
  • Printers.
  • Painters and decorators.
  • Chemical factory workers.
