When am I most at risk?
When you:
- handle money
- provide care to people who are ill, on medication, in a panic, or afraid of what might happen to them, especially in the NHS and emergency services
- relate to people who have a great deal of anger or feelings of failure
- face friends and family of patients, clients or students who are anxious, angry, afraid, or who feel they can't cope with a large 'bureaucracy', such as a hospital or school, from which they are seeking help
- enforce rules or regulations, eg benefit officers, council inspectors
- provide an essential service or benefit, or have the power to withdraw it
- deal with people who are intoxicated or under the influence of drugs
- in situations where you represent authority.
