What can cause back pain?

There are many causes of back pain. You are usually aware when you are straining your back, or otherwise abusing it.

Common causes of back pain include:

  • Poor handling technique when lifting or carrying loads, awkward twisting, not positioning your feet properly, and working with overtired muscles.
  • Sitting for a long time eg at the wheel of your car, then making a sudden movement.
  • Sitting or standing in a poor position.

If you have to lift or carry heavy or awkward loads, you should recive training on how to do it without causing damage to your body.
