What about discrimination?

If you are being bullied for a reason related to one of the grounds protected by discrimination laws, you may be able to bring a claim based on discrimination or harassment. All of the discrimination laws are now found in one place: the Equality Act 2010. You may have a discrimination or harassment claim if the bullying is because of sex, sexual orientation, trans sexuality, marriage, civil partnership, pregnancy, maternity, race, nationality, disability, religion and belief or age. In Northern Ireland, protection extends to harassment and victimisation on grounds of political opinion.

For guidance on tackling discrimination and unlawful harassment, you may need to contact your union rep (if available), a Citizens' Advice Bureau (CAB), local law centre or a solicitor.
