head head head

Should I talk to my employer?

Yes, but it depends on what you think is the main cause of your stress.

  • If workload or work organisation is the issue, discuss it with your supervisor. If you cannot resolve the problem there, talk to the personnel department, union rep or fellow workers.
  • If long hours are the issue, start a new routine of leaving at, say, 5.30pm whenever possible. Try to work regular hours, and take holidays due.

Build your own support network of people you work with. Sounding off about the latest turn of events at work helps

to put things into perspective.

Find out about company policies on harassment, bullying and racism, so that you know how to tackle these issues and what support there is at work.

Remember, if you decide to meet management, you have the right to be accompanied by a union rep, fellow worker or other person of your choice. For more workSMART information about the right to be accompanied click this link.
