If my employer uses alcohol testing at work, how can I be sure that the results are correct?

If you are tested at work, your employer should:

• Have incorporated your agreement to testing in your employment contract.
• Have your written consent before each test.
• Keep your medical records confidential.
• Introduce a 'chain of custody' to make sure samples are not tampered with, are analysed by an accredited laboratory, and that appropriate action is taken if you test positive.
• Follow the principles set out in Part 4.4 of the Information Commissioner’s Code of Practice dealing with drug and alcohol testing.
