drugs and alcohol support at work
If my employer uses alcohol testing at work, how can I be sure that the results are correct?
If you are tested at work, your employer should:
Have
incorporated
your agreement to testing in your employment
contract
.
Have your written consent before each test.
Keep your medical records confidential.
Introduce a 'chain of custody' to make sure samples are not tampered with, are analysed by an accredited laboratory, and that appropriate action is taken if you test positive.
Follow the principles set out in Part 4.4 of the
Information Commissioner’s Code of Practice dealing with drug and alcohol testing
.
