How quickly does dermatitis develop?

How quickly dermatitis develops depends on the substance, its strength or potency, and how long, or how often, it touches the skin. Some agents can affect you from the moment they touch your skin. In other cases, symptoms may take weeks or months to develop. Even if you don't work in a chemical plant, a lot of jobs might expose you to harmful chemicals  (see our working with chemicals section)
