In March 2010, the then road safety minister Paul Clark estimated that around 75% of all work-related deaths occur on the roads.
Based on research showing that up to a third of all road accidents involve someone who is driving for work, he estimated that around 800 deaths a year (15 every week) are caused by work-related driving.
