How do I get legal advice?
If you disagree with your employer over your maternity leave rights, or are dismissed during pregnancy, you will need legal advice. Whatever legal action you decide on, you should get advice first.
- If you are a union member, consult your union rep or full-time officer. They may refer you to the union's specialist legal advice services.
- If you are not a union member, workSMART can put you in touch with solicitors that specialise in taking personal injury cases for trade unions and their members by clicking here. This will be done on a no-win no-fee basis so there will be no legal fees if your case is not successful. You can either fill in a web form or talk on the phone to start the process.
Other solicitors and claims companies can take cases on your behalf. You should read the relevant answers in this FAQ [Link to PI FAQ] carefully before contacting one.
