Does RSI go by any other name?

Yes. Occupational health specialists use other terms to describe these conditions, such as musculo-skeletal disorders, upper limb disorders, WRULDS (work related upper limb disorders), Occupational Overuse Syndrome and Cumulative Trauma Disorders.

RSI can damage particular parts of the body, and each has its own medical name including:

  • Bursitis (eg ‘housemaid’s knee’)
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Cellulitis
  • Epicondylitis ‘tennis elbow’
  • Ganglion
  • Tendonitis
  • Tenosynovitis
  • Trigger finger
