Unfortunately, surveys by the National Association for Premenstrual Syndrome (NAPS) show that GPs are often unaware of the seriousness of PMS, or how to treat it. There are still only a handful of specialist PMS clinics in the UK. NAPS advises you to be prepared to change your GP if the treatment is unsympathetic.
Contact the NAPS helpline for further advice, on 0870 777 2178, or visit the NAPS website at www.pms.org.uk.
