Job advertisements are the obvious place to start looking for work. They’re not necessarily the most fruitful direction to go in, as a huge number of jobs are never publicly advertised, but get filled through internal applications, recruitment agencies or the good old fashioned ‘who-you-know’ route. But job ads are still the single most important source of employment opportunities. When an employer places an ad in a newspaper, on a website or noticeboard, it means they’re aiming to give themselves the best chance of finding the right person. And that means two things. On the one hand, you’ll be up against more rivals than with the other methods. But on the other hand, you’ll have as good a chance as anyone.
