There’s a lot to consider. First and most importantly: do you know where you’re going? Have you found another job that takes you further, or a training course or other project worth leaving your job for?
Secondly, have you taken everything you can from your job (and we’re not referring to the stationery)? Are there any opportunities for development, training or otherwise acquiring skills or contacts that could benefit your career, that you haven’t yet taken advantage of? You might not have those chances elsewhere.
Thirdly, think about timing. Is there a chance in the near future of a job opening up within your organisation that would meet your needs? Could it be that a manager who has been a pain in your life is about to move on? And, if you have decided to leave, is there a bonus payment or a backdated salary rise coming that would be worth waiting for?
As always, try to look beyond your immediate concern and see the big picture.
