Global temperatures are rising because we are consuming fossil fuels at an unsustainable rate. If we don’t start to act now then many fear the changes we already see happening – such as melting ice, rising sea levels, drought and deforestation – will be irreversible.

Climate change is most definitely a work issue. Our workplaces burn energy, consume resources and generate waste. In the UK, industry alone is responsible for over half of carbon dioxide emissions increasing the greenhouse effect every year.

We must act now. Some of the steps that employers have to take will involve major commitments for a business. But there are also a lot of pretty painless things that we can all do as individuals, which added together around the country will have a big impact.
